South Sudan River Nile Rafting – The blustering wind from the River Nile creates a beautiful melody, attracting colorful birds that rest on the riverbanks while searching for food. At the same time, adventure seekers sail over the calm waters, watching hippos, crocodiles, and fishermen.
The fishermen patiently wait to catch Nile perch, tilapia, and silverfish, either to sell to visitors or for home consumption.
Everything has a beginning, and so does the Nile River. It originates from Uganda and flows into South Sudan, where it splits into different tourist destinations such as Nimule National Park and Mountain Nile (Bahr-el-Jebel).
The river continues northward to the Fula Rapids, then to Juba, where it collects itself in the world’s largest swamp, the Al-Sudd.
The Nile then flows eastward, where it joins the Sobat River of western Ethiopia, eventually forming the White Nile and the Blue Nile. The river and its surroundings are very important to both communities and wildlife.
The 594-mile stretch provides pasture during the dry season, with high papyrus and elephant grass for cattle, as well as fishing grounds for the local people.
South Sudan White Nile River
During the rainy season, flooding slows down water movement. This reduces the water flow at Khartoum to less than 30% of the main Nile’s flow.
This happens because the floodwaters of the Blue Nile push back the White Nile, turning it into a temporary lake.
